trains, trains, and more trains

While on our road trip, Zach's wildest dreams came true as we did a lot of train-related activities. We rode on a steam engine train at the Strasburg Railroad. Zach was crazy about the big engine and the passenger cars. He also enjoyed the gift shop with its vast array of Thomas merchandise. Sarah also enjoyed the ride on the big train. I enjoyed the beautiful countryside and passing by an Amish farm where they were holding church. You could tell they were having church there due to the significant number of Amish buggies parked in the farmyard. Conveniently, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is just across the street. It was full of all different kinds of trains both inside and out. The kids were thrilled to discover that you even got to climb on and in some of them. Sarah immediately got to work pushing buttons, pulling levers, ringing bells, turning knobs, and driving the trains. Zach ran about exclaiming about all of the trains. The crowning moment of the train museum, however, was when we found the children's area with the accompanying Thomas the Tank Engine display. We were there for over two hours. They also had a GeoTrax display, a Rokenbok display, a Lego city display with trains you could move at the touch of a button, model train exhibits where you could control the models with remotes, trains on tracks above your head controlled by buttons on the wall, and Thomas Duplo Lego trains you could build and drive on the tracks. It was awesome. Thanks to Tropicana, we got in buy one, get one free. And the next morning, Zach woke up and asked if we could go back to the train museum.

It's a good thing we dragged you to see Thomas the Tank Engine in Heber when you were in the pre-kids stage of life so you could be properly prepared for Zach and his love of all things train.
