Sarah greeted me this morning with a freshly packed suitcase for our trip to Utah. Did I mention that our trip isn't for three week? Yep. Three weeks away, and she is already packed. I broke the news to her gently that we weren't leaving for three more weeks and that she will likely need some of the items that she has packed. She wasn't the least bit concerned about this minor hiccup and informed me that she had plenty more and would not need to unpack. Also that it is essential that she not forget anything important which is why packing so early is the key to preparation. She has two bags full. I guess she will be paying the bag check fee, because I certainly will not be footing the bill for it. Perhaps you're wondering what she has packed. So was I. Complete preparation apparently involves the following:
- three pairs of shoes
- 5 mismatched outfits
- 5 1/2 pairs of pajamas
- 4 pairs of leggings (because August in Utah is pretty chilly)
- all of her DSi games
- a handful of change
- a handkerchief with a stuffed puppy and 5 hard candies
- two more outfits hiding out in a side pocket
- two air fresheners
- a play microphone
- a napkin
- two light up star wands
- her new mp3 player with all of the accessories
- one sparkly nail file
- one sheet of stickers
- two notebooks
- her wallet
- a cd
- two cards she has made
- a variety of pencils and pens in a princess pencil case
- pucker powder candy
- Hello Kitty pencil
- 4 packs of gum
- 4 lip glosses & lipsticks
- 5 tea lights
- a SpongeBob ring pop
- one hamster stuffed animal
- a portable USB jump drive
- a matching set of earrings, bracelet, and necklace
- assorted silly bandz
- one sparkly scrunchie
As I look at this assortment of packed items, several things come to mind.
- I have my work cut out for me in helping Sarah to unpack and then repack for our trip to Utah. I might need the entire three weeks to cut her packing down to the essentials.
- If anyone would like Sarah to come to visit today, just say the word, and I will send her on the plane today with all of these items. Feel free to dispose of them as possible.
- Surely many of these items will not clear airport security. Maybe I should let the people at the security checkpoint be the bad guys. Of course, then we will miss our plane due to the extreme amount of time to check through her bags looking for contraband. And I will have a hysterical Sarah to maneuver through the airport.
- Wouldn't it be unfortunate if a choice bag or two of Sarah's gets lost in transit? I think it could probably be arranged.
- leaving on a jet plane...in three weeks
- all packed up and ready to go
- more packing?
- sarah's packing frenzy
- commence packing

I was surprised by all of the list except for the napkin. She was partially raised by Grandpa Vawdrey after all.
If Sarah can find her way to passenger pick up #8, we'll be there!
Shara
I have been wondering when you guys were going to make it back to Utah. The girls would love to play with Sarah. Let us know when you are here and we can all get together.
This post was hilarious! I made my parents read it and they loved it too.
