we could have tricked and treated all night

Sarah was thrilled to trick or treat at a gas station.
The local CVS (pharmacy) gave out Sour Patch Kids.
Princess Leia could scarcely contain her excitement.
We were hoping for a pizza as a treat from the yummiest pizzeria around
but only got candy. Thomas was disappointed as he is crazy about Victor's pizza.
Surprisingly, the dollar store gave out good treats.
Zach wanders in to the dollar store thinking that we are playing a trick on him
and that these people aren't actually going to give him candy.
He really wanted the ice cream bars to his right but was disappointed.

Continuing in our non-traditional celebration of Halloween since we've moved to the East Coast, we trick or treated with some friends along Cedar Lane, the major thoroughfare in our new town. Initially, Zach was unsure of how to go about trick or treating. He kind of walked around as if completely baffled regarding why he was wearing this silly costume, why I was telling him to wander into stores with the others, and why he was carrying this bucket. It may have also had something to do with the fact that for a good half an hour his hat made it impossible for him to see much of anything. He may or may not have walked into a door or two. Several times after receiving his candy, he just stood there staring alternately at his bucket and at the person who had given him the candy like he could not fathom why strangers were practically throwing candy. Sarah was more than willing to show him how it was done. Once he got into his groove, however, he was like a trick or treating machine that simply could not be stopped. He knew the drill: walk into store, present bucket, receive treat, say thank you, proceed to next store. Later in the evening we also did some traditional trick or treating at a few houses. Poor Zach had some trouble with the stairs to the porches as his buffers kept getting in the way. Princess Leia got more than a dozen comments about how adorable she was and what lovely hair she had. In our short hour of trick or treating, we got more than enough candy to last us a good long while.

That sounds like fun! Going trick or treating at local shops. The only thing we did was go to the trunk or treat this year, not nearly as much fun as you guys. Cute costumes!
