sarah, master pumpkin carver: a series

She begins quite hesitantly.
When it becomes apparent that the spoon is not doing the job, she gets down and dirty and sticks her hand in.
"Eeeewww, this is disgusting!"
"Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck!"
At this point I had to take over, at her insistence, and finish scraping out the guts.
When it came time to design the face, she was all over it. The girl had very definite ideas about what her pumpkins were going to look like.
A regular Picasso, this one.
I was hesitant to let her go crazy with the knife as we were just using our kitchen knives. When I finally turned the knife over to her, however, she was so excited and got right to work. And worked. And worked. And worked. I had to shut her down at bedtime. Next year I will be buying the pumpkin carving knives at the store.
She was crazy about getting all the pieces out and cutting everything just so.
