We recently got with the program and signed up for a subscription with Netflix. I'm kind of wondering how we ever survived without it. Anyway, yesterday afternoon when David wanted to watch the hometown Jets lose on the television, he showed her how to access Netflix on the iPad. She was instantly in love with yet another screen device and promptly watched a lovely Sunday afternoon movie (or two). At bedtime we sent her off to bed and went downstairs to enjoy a little Netflix action of our own. At the conclusion of our movie at 11:00 pm, I headed upstairs to bed. After checking on Zach, I went in to check on Sarah as well and was surprised to find her still awake. She said she just couldn't sleep but that she was okay. This should have tipped me off as she usually begs for someone to sleep by her until she is blissfully in the land of slumber. Tired myself and expecting an early morning wake up call, I headed off to bed. She told me to close the door a little bit because the light from the hall was too bright. Had I not been wiped out myself, I would have been more suspicious as she usually begs to have the door open and the hall light on so she won't be scared. I thought perhaps she was just growing up. Not so. In bed a few minutes later, David wanders in with the iPad, and I ask him what he is doing with it. Apparently, our little sneakster has squirreled away the iPad, climbed in bed with it, and been watching movies in bed since bedtime. Busted! When I cruised by in my nearly comatose, ready for bed state, she had simply stuck it under her pillow to hide the evidence.
Little Miss Sarah didn't realize her father had told me about this whole episode. She came home from school today and headed right up to her room. I did the usual song and dance about homework, reading, piano, reading, yadda, yadda, yadda, and she calmly replied that she needed to go up to her room for some "quality alone time." Where she came up with this idea, I do not know. When I told her that she needed to get these other things done first, she said she really needed her "quality alone time." I emphasized there would be no iPad, and she said she was going to "think about her day." You cannot fool me twice, little girl. I raced right in there and confiscated the iPad from under her pillow in two seconds flat. And she did homework. And piano. And reading. The iPad is now on seclusion in a place only I know. Until I forget where it is that I put it.

she is fantastically sneaky! i really appreciate your posts as they often warn me of impending issues with my own little sneakster.
I feel like I need to call you and talk to you about these sneaky episodes because I too have a child who is up too his own set of shananigans. 2:30am rolled around this morning and I hear a thump. I go up to our living room only to find Sterling (11) playing the wii with the wii board out as well. This is not the first time. I have caught him also with flashlights in bed and cards and game boys and playing on our computer late at night. Oooh!! I could tell you a load of stories you would not believe!
