we love bridges

I think one of my favorite things about New York City is the bridges connecting it to the surrounding places. The George Washington Bridge will always be special to me as I have seen it daily for nearly the past year. It is a remarkable bridge and probably one of the busiest bridges (if not the busiest) in the world. I especially have enjoyed seeing the lights of the bridge at night out of our bedroom window. On holidays, the flag is flown from the arch on the New Jersey side as seen in the photo above (from flickr), and the entire bridge is lit up including both arches as seen in the two pictures below (also from flickr). It is breathtaking.

The Brooklyn Bridge is another one of my favorites. It is 125 years old and still remarkable. I have walked across it several times and have enjoyed it each time. I am fascinated by looking up at the arches. I don't think I'll ever tire of this walk across the bridge. The above picture was taken during an evening harbor cruise we took with friends. The two pictures below were taken from the Brooklyn side.
