reading & writing

Sarah is an awesome reader. She has been reading up a storm, and people are always surprised to hear how well she reads. They always ask how old she is and are shocked when I tell them. In school, she has also been doing quite a bit of writing. I love how phonetically kids spell. Each week they make one or two letter books where they have a worksheet on which they practice the letter they have been working on. At the bottom of the worksheet there are two pictures. They are supposed to write the letter they are working on under the picture that starts with that letter. Sarah usually writes the word. I love to see what she comes up with when she does them on her own since some are right and some are not. Here are a few:
basboll (baseball)
shep (sheep)
bee
ant
box
can
trtl (turtle)
wohris (walrus)
drum
inscet (insect)
jacllantrn (jack-o-lantern)
com (comb)
frok (fork)
hamr (hammer)
mows (mouse)
qen (queen)
seal
wayl (whale)
