the city boy and the cows

We took a little adventure to the farm at Thanksgiving Point. Many of my childhood memories include being around the animals on my grandparent's farm, so I figured my own children probably needed some experiences with farm animals as well. Zach especially enjoyed the cows. He loved feeding them and had no fear of them at all. I was a little concerned that he would lose a finger or even a hand. In fact, I was a little concerned at one point that they just might eat him for dinner. He stayed for a good long while watching them eat their hay and mooing right along with them. He probably would have stayed all night if we had let him. But we had to move on to greener pastures where they serve ice cream. Oh, you don't see any cows in these pictures? Open your eyes, folks! When you're a city boy, these are cows!
Moral of the story: When you live in a city and rarely see farm animals, you should read books about farm animals every day (pointing out each animal by name and the sound it makes) so your children won't get made fun of (and your parenting skills be called into question) when you go to rural places and they don't know the difference between a horse and a cow!

Thanks for clarifying. For a moment, I was worried about your animal identification skills!

So let me get this straight. You told him they were horses, but he wouldn't listen to you & continued to have his own opinion of 'his cows'? This could be a sign of things to come. Watch out!!
