It turns out that making your own birthday cake is very hard work. First, you have to do lots of mixing and dumping. After that, you must supervise the mixer to make sure everything is well mixed in. It's also a very dirty task. You're bound to get flour all over yourself. And likely the kitchen as well. You'll probably need to sample the batter to make sure it tastes okay. Licking the spatula is a tough job, but someone will have to step up to the plate and take charge. Before you know it, you'll have to dump the batter into the pan and bake it. Decorating it is where it gets a little tricky, and you might need a little help from your big sister. Together you can smash the Oreos for the dirt in a ziploc bag since you are currently blenderless. You can also team up to turn the coconut green for the grass. Building the tracks are the easy part, because you do that kind of work nearly every day. When it comes to finding trains, you know just where there might be one or two. Or twenty. The hardest part is choosing which engines to do the job. When there's some track and some engines, you know just what to do-drive them. And drive them you do. All over the cake. Until your mom catches wind of it and your cake making days are through. Then mom has to come to the rescue and repair the cake so you can celebrate.
