it's christmas, hooray!

It would be safe to say that Zach made out like a bandit this Christmas. Since the kid likes anything with wheels, it is extremely easy to buy gifts for him. Every morning he comes looking for me in my bedroom to wake me up and begin the day. This morning, however, he didn't even peek in my direction but headed directly for the stairs to see what Santa had brought. And, boy, did Santa deliver! The minute his feet touched solid ground at the bottom of the stairs, Zach was ripping into the presents. Fortunately, due to my foresight in wrapping all of his gifts in Thomas the Tank Engine wrapping paper, it was easy to see which ones were for him. The morning continued like this: grab present, tear off wrapping paper, see what it is, shout hooray, tear open box, play with toy for 3.5 seconds, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. He did get a little better at taking turns but not much. When he opened the Thomas treasures, he slowed down for a while and gave his new trains some time on the tracks. He then proceeded to bring down a number of old engines to take them for a spin on the new tracks and get them to sleep in Tidmouth Sheds. He was also tickled with a new set of legos, a parking garage which he promptly filled with cars, a monster truck courtesy of Sarah, and a marble run which his little heart has desired since he discovered them in Utah this summer. The little bandit got all of this and then some. There was certainly a lot to hooray about.
