somebody had a birthday

We finally got around to celebrating Zach's birthday. Fortunately, he's only one and didn't seem to mind the delay. His actual birthday was packed with a primary activity, helping someone move, and hours and hours of Stake Conference meetings. Sarah and I did sing him a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday before we put him to bed, but other than that, the poor kid really missed out on his special day. Shh! Don't tell him, and he'll never even know. We finally mustered up some cupcakes (of the funfetti variety with sprinkles on top and crazy curl candles). He needed some help blowing out the candles, of course. Sarah was more than willing to assist. As for his culinary cupcake delight, he smooshed the frosting around, took one bite, and crawled away. Not much of a cupcake fan, this kid. Sarah was again happy to help him out by opening the packages that came his way. She finally talked me into wrapping his present and then graciously helped him unwrap it both with and without permission. She has also been instrumental in helping him play with his presents--so helpful that he has scarcely had a chance to play with them. Perhaps next year we'll whip up more of a birthday frenzy for the little fellow!

I like his shirt! I'm glad it fits.
