the time I caved, part 5

Our binkie-free days were going better. And then I thought that maybe I was a better parent than I sometimes give myself credit for. Of course, then Zach caught a little bug. This one came with a fever, a runny nose, and a cough. I felt bad for the poor little monkey, and I caved. I caved big. And I gave him his binkie. And his blanket. Come on, he was sick. And I like to think that it made him feel better. Mostly because that makes me feel better about my caving. I even let him take his blanket and binkie in the car to church. He didn't take them in to church, but still. They came in handy after church, however, when we had to stay late. I gave them to him, and he fell asleep in my lap which he never does. There's just something about a baby, a binkie, and a blanket snuggled up against your chest or in your lap that makes having kids all worth it. And a binkie is just so easy. Sometimes I find it hard to remember to confiscate it quickly when he wakes up in the morning and after his nap. But I will be strong, and I will survive. And hopefully Zach will, too.

Aww he looks so content with his paci. I have to admit I love to be able to comfort Wyatt with his paci and pillowcase.
