it was a red shoes kind of day
Sometimes a girl just needs to put on a pair of red shoes and prance around in them. It was that kind of a day for me today. After weeks of packing and moving and with loads of unpacking left to do, I am exhausted. And overwhelmed. The bishop also assigned me a talk for sacrament meeting today. What kind of a bishop assigns you a talk for the day after you move? The kind of bishop that you are conveniently married to. I wrote it late last night on a piece of yellow construction paper that I scrounged up along with a pen that I fortunately had in my bag. Then the bishop felt pity on me and got a computer set up along with a printer and some Internet access. Don't worry-I'll get even someday. We even made it to church on time with everyone clothed in church-appropriate clothing. This required a significant amount of rummaging in boxes all over the house to locate something for Zach to wear, something for Sarah to wear, something for me to wear, and socks for David to wear. I tried to think ahead while packing, but unfortunately, it simply came down to "just throw it in a box and seal it up and get it out of here." I was smart enough to set aside David's suit with a white shirt and coordinating tie and belt and shoes. While no one would likely be too concerned about the bishop's family appearing in random bizarre ensembles at church, I didn't think it would be particularly well received if he arrived in shorts and a t-shirt. There was a bit of a treasure hunt this morning for his socks that I neglected to plan for, however. And another moment of panic when Zach got ring pop slobber all over his pants and needed a change right when it was time to go. When it became apparent that I was, in fact, giving the talk, I decided it wasn't a swell idea for me to wear shorts and a t-shirt either. Or stay home. Unfortunately. So I scrambled and fourteen boxes later came up with a dress. When the shoe box (yes, I have an entire box of shoes-and it isn't a small box, either) was located, the red ones were on top. And that was when I decided that it was a red shoes kind of day. And, you know what, the red shoes made all the difference. In fact, I might need another pair, because you never know when you're going to have a red shoes kind of day-or even two of them in a row.

Wow, you are a champ. I better get me a pair of them shoes. (;
You really need to get a pair of Tom's shoes. Look them up online. They are great. Better than great even.
I'm thinking maybe we should get some pictures of the new place!
