While the cousins were here, we decided to go to the top of the Empire State Building. Okay, so it's really not the top, but it was close enough for us. We went to the 86th floor observatory. It was $15 more to go to the 102nd floor observatory, and I doubt there's much more to see. I've been secretly wanting to go for a while now but just hadn't made it (and thought it was perhaps a bit silly for me to want to go and found this gave me the perfect opportunity). Lucky for me the boys wanted to go, so we tagged along. The above picture is to prove I was there and also because David says I never put any pictures of myself on the blog.

Sarah quite enjoyed it despite the wind. Even David got to come along since there was a leak in his office making it impossible for him to get any work done.

This is the view to the north-east showing the Chrysler Building on the right hand side.

This is the view to the north-west. In the distance you can see the George Washington Bridge (near where we live) crossing the Hudson River and the west side of Central Park.

This is the view to the south but just slightly downtown of the Empire State Building. The triangular building is the Flatiron Building.

This is another view to the South showing all of downtown Manhattan. The two green spots in the middle of the Hudson River on the top right corner are Liberty Island and Ellis Island. If anyone wants to see those, please come visit, as I have not been yet and am simply looking for an excuse to get at them. It was a lot of fun to ride the three elevators up to the top. I especially like that the elevators are controlled by remotes. It was even worth standing in the long lines. The views were spectacular. I even felt like a real New Yorker as I was able to point out landmarks to others around me. Perhaps I should have held out a cup for them to pay me for providing them with information. Zach, as you can imagine, slept through it.

What excellent pictures, looks like Spring in New York is all that they say it is.
How long was your wait? We were glad to go at night with no lines.
