I love that we have a buzzer. It is so Seinfeld. And so New York. (I wish we had a doorman as that would be great for package purposes and door opening purposes, but alas, we live in the poor part of town.) Here is the buzzer inside our apartment. The buzzer outside is not pictured as the photos I took of it were not so great. I like to buzz people up. It is much cooler than a simple doorbell (although we do have a wimpy doorbell as well) and also gives more advance warning that someone is coming my way. Sometimes the mail lady buzzes for me to let her in as she apparently knows I am home during the day. Sarah gets a kick out of the buzzer as well. On several occasions I have caught her standing on a chair pulled up next to the buzzer, pushing the buttons, and talking into it. She mimics the things I say into the intercom. She used to call it the big doorbell. Now, when someone buzzes, she runs to the front door, whips it open, and waits...and waits...and waits...and waits for them to come up the elevator or the stairs.
This is Sarah as a street performer. Good times, my friends. One evening she put a cup from her kitchen out in front of her, started dancing and singing, and said, "Daddy, give me some money in my cup!" Of course, he reached into his pocket and gave the girl some change. Wouldn't you? I knew she liked the street performers we sometimes see in the subway, but I didn't realize she liked them this much.
Come on over for a visit. We'll buzz you up. Bring some change just in case our little street performer puts on a show!
