I had my first famous person sighting this morning while at the Today Show in midtown. Finally. After living here for over a year. It's about stinkin' time! Granted it was no Tina Fey or Doogie Howser ( I mean Neal Patrick Harris) or Colin Firth. But it was a famous person. People like Matt Lauer, Meredith Veira, Al Roker, and Martha Stewart don't count as I saw them in the context of their shows. This morning, though, while waiting for the Today show to start, I saw Tom Brokaw rushing down the street. His hair was askew. He was brushing his hand through it and hurrying right along. It turns out he was actually heading to the Today show. I turned to my sister, said, "Isn't that guy someone I should know? He looks so familiar," and then we realized it was our boy Tom. The one. And only. Unfortunately, I was too flustered to pull the old camera out although I did catch some pictures of him through the window inside the studio. I simply had to document the first famous person sighting ever. Also, I was on the Today show this morning--behind the obnoxious woman with the irritating green sign. Another woman behind me was so excited when they came out to the plaza that she started hitting me on the arm. I nearly had to ask her to calm herself. Sorry that I didn't call you all while I was on the show to make sure that you were watching me. I think all of the lines were busy from all of the ridiculous people who actually were calling friends and family back home to make sure they were being seen while on camera. Seriously!
