We went to a little carnival in town this evening. There have been signs up for several weeks, and they started putting decorations up for it several weeks ago as well. From the moment they made their appearance, Sarah has been anxiously awaiting (translated as asking dozens of times per day when the blessed event would begin) the "Spring Festival" as she calls it. I'm not actually sure what the point of the carnival was, so I let the "Spring Festival" be the reason for it at our house. All of her five-year-old dreams came true when we headed over tonight to partake of the excitement. Ricky was in town for the evening and came along with us. Of all the things to do in NYC and New Jersey, I'm pretty sure he was thrilled to take part in our trip to the carnival. It doesn't get any better than that.

No trip to a carnival would be complete without a ride in the teacups. I overheard one man say to his kid, "Do you want to ride in the coffee cups?" Seriously. The coffee cups? Only in New Jersey would they be referred to as coffee cups.

I'm pretty sure Sarah's main reason in going to the carnival was to procure some cotton candy. Which she suckered me into. Sarah was thrilled. Zach was ecstatic. It turns out the cotton candy was just an appetizer for our slurpees that came later. We like to sugar them up good around here before we put them to bed.

The kiddie swings were the one ride that poor Zach was able to ride. And ride he did. It's sure rough being shorter than 42 inches. Fortunately, Zach is a very good sport.

For most of the rides, Zach just got to climb on the fence and watch. He only tried to climb in a few times. At least he got to get out of the stroller. That's pretty much a first for him in public places.

With all those smiles it looks like the carnival was a success. Wasn't anyone brave enough to ride in the tea cups, with Sarah?
Hey there. This is Kristin's friend Summer. I had a question for you...my husband is finishing up school soon and there are a lot of jobs in your area. Any suggestions or good/bad about living there? How do you like the church in the area?
