It's official. My kid is a genius. He doesn't talk much, but he's a genius. The quiet ones usually are the smartest, you know. Recently he has been saying letters all of the time. I assumed he was just calling out letters that he had heard in the alphabet song or when I am spelling words at Sarah's request for her to write down. Then I noticed that he was pointing to letters in different places and identifying them by their correct names. So I decided to test his knowledge a little bit because that's the kind of parent that I am. I got out a variety of different types of letters-magnets, scrabble tiles, and foam letters. Then I started showing them to him and asking them what they were. And he was getting them right. Consistently. The little stinker blew me out of the water. He was able to consistently identify 20 out of the 26 letters. He doesn't seem to know c, z, y, w, q, or v. Who needs those letters, anyway? Oh, wait! He does. He has five of them in his name.
