while you were not sleeping

Dear Zach,
This was the aftermath today of your "nap." Note that very little floor can be seen. You may recall that no actual sleeping took place. You are 27 and a half months old. You need a nap. Every day. And, let's be honest. I need for you to take a nap every single day. You're simply not old enough to go nap-less. I don't think that two hours is too much to ask. For my sanity. For your happiness and ability to go through the day with significantly less whining. I'll make you a deal. You go in your room for an hour and a half every single day for a "nap." You may do whatever you want--play with your trains, play with your blocks, sing a song, read a book, take a nap, anything. But don't come out until the hour and a half is up. We'll clean up together afterward and even sing the clean-up song. I think it is better for everyone this way. And you might survive until your third birthday.
Love,
Your Nap-less Mother
