So, I'm a sucker for anything educational which would explain why the first two sets of BOB books have been delivered via Amazon.com and the lovely UPS man to our apartment in the past month. Sarah is really enjoying them, and I'm thinking of going ahead with ordering the rest of them. My initial goal was to have her read one a day in sequential order and review past ones every once in a while. Apparently, she had a different plan in mind. Imagine that! Sarah rarely does things the way I have in mind. She just likes to pick random ones out and often wants to reads whole stacks of them at once. We usually do at least one per day. Several months ago she asked me what an exclamation point was, and I told her that it tells you to read it louder and with more energy. Ever since then, she is like an exclamation point pro. She reads through a sentence, and when she sees an exclamation point at the end, she repeats the sentence at the top of her lungs. As you probably are aware, with Sarah, this can be quite loud. Tonight we were reading Go, Bus. She shouted out, "STOP THE BUS! STOP THE BUS!" The little darling gave it everything she's got. I think she may have awakened the neighbors. It was adorable!

I just saw those books at Costco and was wondering if they were any good. I think I'll get a set for Bianca now that I read your post.
When kids want to do things their way and not listen to their teachers, what is the best way to handle things. Let's say, hypothetically, that I am team-teaching a group of 3-4 year olds and they won't pay attention during church. Is bribery the best way? What about grabbing them and forcing them to sit on my lap? That one seems to scare them, but then they act out more. Any advice?
What a little smarty pants! SMARTY PANTS! SMARTY PANTS! I hope Sarah would read that really loudly. I'm sure she'd be able to tell by the ex. point that I'm writing with lots more energy and vigor!
