a fabulous fourth

We had a lovely holiday yesterday with a morning nap for Zach and I, a ward picnic at the park with soccer, frisbee, friends, and bubbles, a relaxing afternoon movie with popcorn, and fantastic fireworks over the East River. They close the FDR Drive to traffic and allow people to gather everywhere to watch the fireworks they shoot off from barges in the river. The equivalent would be something like closing I-215 up near 33rd South clear up to the University of Utah and allowing people to converge and then shooting fireworks off nearby. It was quite a show, and there were scads of people. If only it hadn't been rainy. This is the first Fourth of July in my life where I remember there being rain. At least it wasn't too hot! Next year we're hoping to be able to see them from our building or will go to Boston or DC to enjoy their festivities!
