  • "I don't want to get up. If I get up now, I'll be extra grumpy." I have so wanted to say this myself so many mornings. If only it would work!
  • "I don't want to pack. I want to play and have more fun than mom." She did.
  • "Mom, can I get an iPod?" Ummm, no!
  • "Mom, we need some time by ourselves (her and Zach). That's why we don't want you to come in and bug us." A dream come true for me--I hightailed it out of there and left them to it--for all of the five minutes they wanted to themselves!
  • "We could go swimming and then have lunch. That could be an option." What a bargainer!
  • "Mom, every kid needs a dog." We're not getting one.

No, every kid does not need a dog -- unless maybe its the stuffed animal type. What every kid really needs is a friendly clean dog living next door with the neighbors who take care of it.
