Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without a visit to Santa Claus. I had never really taken Sarah to see Santa Claus until we moved out here. I suppose she saw the occasional one at parties and other events, but I never bothered to take her to the mall to see one. It just didn't seem worth the lines or the money for the pictures that they guilt you into. We trekked down to Macy's on 34th Street to see him today, however, as this visit to Santa Claus is more than worth it. The line meanders through Santaland filled with dancing bears, skiing penguins, bears playing instruments, Santa's elves, Santa's sleigh filled with toys, and other exciting, kid-friendly stuff. This makes the wait seem like not much of a wait after all. Then you get to see one of a dozen Santas who actually look like they could really be Santa. There are no fake beards here, my friends. Sarah got to sit on his lap. I'm sure she asked for a stuffed animal that comes to life and then goes back to being a stuffed animal and a Barbie Diamond Castle. I sure hope Santa comes through on those as I will not be getting them for her. Zach also had a turn on the big guy's lap. He lasted just about through the picture before collapsing in a puddle of tears. Sarah was sure to let Santa know that Zach would like some trucks and trains. I'm sure, had he been able to talk, that Zach would have asked for a clean toilet bowl brush and some scissors as every time he gets his hands on either of those items his mean mom takes them away. He also would have asked for a purse to carry around although his father, I'm sure, won't be happy about it. Again, let's hope Santa comes through with these treasures. While at Macy's we also watched a marionette puppet show of Miracle on 34th Street. Sarah loved it, of course, and Zach lasted about halfway through before he began to wander amongst the crowd.

I heard that the Macy's lines really aren't that long and that the Santa's there are really good with the kids. I like reading your blog. It makes me laugh.
Poor little Zach, he looks so scared!
