Someone had been needing a haircut. For weeks. His dad said he looked like a hippie. I thought the curls were adorable. I will admit, though, that it was starting to look a bit like a baby mullet.

These are before shots. At least as before as we could get, anyway. Before we really cut his hair but after Sarah helped him out with a trim in the front. I suppose the whole thing is my fault. I've been talking about the big haircut for weeks--trying to decide if I should just do it myself (despite my complete lack of hair cutting knowledge) or take him somewhere. I talked to several people about the upcoming haircut and the dilemma it posed. I talked to my sister who has cut her husband's hair several times. I even went so far as to get the hair cutting scissors out. And left them out on the counter for days. Apparently, Sarah decided to take matters into her own hands and give the kid a haircut. Just in the front. It is shorter and also pretty straight. His father helped out with the rest of the cutting. I was too chicken. I mean, who wants their kid to look totally ridiculous and to have it be all their fault?

During the haircut. He's got that "what are you doing to me?" pose going on. I think it may have been right after this move that we broke out the m&ms.

And the after shot. Much better. Much better. And also looking older. And wiser.
