mornings with zach

Zach and I did more exploring today. We walked along a path by the river. Since Zach has never met a rock he didn't love, he picked up nearly every rock along the path. And then threw them into the river. He also enjoyed digging in the dirt with a stick. And his fingers. He gathered acorns and threw them into the river. And then he picked up and threw leaves. I enjoyed the sunshine. When we got home and I put him down for his nap, I noticed something behind his ear. I figured it was dirt and tried to brush it away. Only it wouldn't brush away. On closer inspection, I discovered that it was a tick. Yikes! Thinking back to my years at girls camp, I put some vaseline on it. This turns out to be a bit of an old wives tale and not necessarily the best thing to do. Then I pulled that little tick out with some tweezers, washed it right up, and slapped on some Neosporin. Then I worried. And worried. And worried. Fortunately, he has a previously-scheduled doctor's appointment tomorrow. I even saved the tick to show her.

Yikes! That is scary about the tick. Glad everything turned out OK. I wouldn't even know what to do.

I'm pretty upset I wasn't called about the tick situation. I am nearly a doctor for hell's sake. The solution is simple - burn it out with a cigarette. C'Mon.
