sometimes she holds still

We visited the New York Botanical Gardens this afternoon. It was cold but pretty. Sarah spent some time in the Everett Children's Garden learning about vanilla and chocolate and the plants they come from. The highlight of the day, however, came when we stumbled upon a gentleman feeding the birds. He was kind enough to teach Sarah how and to give her some nuts and birdseed to feed them as well. I have never seen her so still or so brave. She was perfectly still and didn't even flinch when the birds alighted on her hand and pecked away at the food. She was enthralled by them. And wanted to continue holding still to feed them for longer. She probably had half a dozen birds or more land and eat. We were hoping that a beautiful cardinal up in the tree would come down for a taste but were disappointed. It was a wonderful way to spend a cold, winter afternoon.

Alicia! Thanks for stopping by our blog. But mostly I had to tell you how you made my day (week even? month even?) by telling me about the Super Walmart! That is awesome news. We just google-mapped it and it says 12 minutes away (which probably means 25, but it take about that time to get to the Target in the Bronx). This is very good news! Anyway, thanks for the tip and stop by our blog anytime. Hope you don't mind if I pop by yours again:)
