the miracle
Sarah read a book today. All. By. Herself. It is a miracle. This is the day I have been waiting for since the child was born. We had previously read the book together two times, so she was somewhat familiar with it. She went in her room, got the book, sat down, and read it. I only helped with two words when she came to find me to ask about them. I didn't have to sit by her and help her sound things out. I didn't have to put my finger under each and every word. I didn't have to read the hard words. I didn't have to remind her to pay attention to the book and stop wiggling. She read all 22 pages of it alone. I'd share a picture of this blessed event, but it took place fresh out of the bath tub before she even got dressed. I simply could not interrupt the brilliant reading taking place to make her get dressed. She was just tickled a few nights ago while I was reading aloud to her when I told her that someday if she kept practicing her reading, she would be able to read books all by herself whenever she wanted. I didn't realize what an impression it had made until she sat on the couch, fresh out of the tub, just entranced with Dora the Explorer Around the World! Thank you, Dora!

Wow! Grandma is so happy for you Sarah (and mom).
Way to go, Sarah!
Are you pregnant? Is that why you don't post anymore?
No, no, and no again. And just to make it very clear--no!
