roll over, i'm crowded

By 5:30 a.m. this morning, I had not one, but two children in the bed with me. Sarah was in the middle. For some reason she insists on occupying the middle space of any bed. Zach was between us while I teetered on about a foot wide spot on the edge. David was on the couch. At one point (who am I kidding here? at five minute intervals) I considered heading out to the couch myself but decided against it as I was certain Zach would roll off the bed and commence screaming the moment my head hit the soft goodness of the couch's pillows. I had somehow in my unconscious 5:00 a.m. exhaustion turned off the alarm and decided to forego the running this morning. For a few brief seconds I thought I might be able to reach my book and read for a bit while the wee ones nodded back off to sleep. Not so. Sad to say Sarah was watching a show by 7:30 a.m. and Zach was having his first nap. This is a bad sign. I had relapsed into unconsciousness on the couch. Now it is 6:00 p.m. and the kids are in hysterics. The screaming has got to stop. We might be forced to resort to ice cream and movies until bedtime. Do you think 7:30 is too early to put the kidlets to bed? How about 6:10? These are certainly some moments of motherhood at their finest.

I feel like I have two kids in my bed, but it's just Eric.
