sarah story #1

When I was pregnant with Sarah, I had all these ideas to do all these wonderful things like journaling extensively about her life, actually being caught up on her scrapbook up to the moment, writing her letters, blah, blah, blah...Pretty much, I was going to be the perfect mother! Right! You know how it is. Of course, maybe those of you out there are the perfect mother, and I am the only one who had great ambitions that have fizzled. Then I was in the thick of things with her (as I still am & with the Zachster as well) and realized that being a mom is hard and exhausting and that sometimes it is all you can do to make it through the day. Blogging seems to be, for me, as I'm sure for many of you, something that is easy, quick, and a format that works. Thus, I have decided to record here some of the stories that I remember from when she was younger before I forget them as they have not been journaled extensively, written in a special letter, etc.

I went to a baby shower at a friend's house when Sarah was maybe 15 or 16 months old. We were eating brunch at her kitchen table which had a glass top with beautiful wrought iron supports. I had been feeding Sarah some crackers of the sort which toddlers eat, but she lost interest in them and began playing with some toys on the floor at my feet. I set the crackers on the table and continued eating my food. A few minutes later Sarah became very upset. I looked over to see what the problem was and noticed that she was attempting to get the crackers from the underside of the glass table and was frustrated that she couldn't seem to grasp them. I couldn't help but laugh at how great kids are.
