Is it an apple? Is it a pear? It's an apple pear--also known as an Asian Pear. Some may even call it a papple. Perhaps I am fruit deprived, but I had never had one of these tasty little morsels until recently when I picked one up at the farmer's market. Yum. A little too soft to be just an apple, but a little too crunchy to be just a pear, it is soft but a bit crunchy and oh, so sweet. I'm in heaven eating this scrumptious fruit. I'm envisioning salads with this fruit along with other fruits and sometimes even nuts coming to our house this summer.

I have a Japanese friend who serves these fresh, sliced, and rinsed with salt water. It's an odd sweet/salty combination, but I always find myself wanting more. And apparently it keeps them from turning brown.
I LOVE Those!!!! My mom used to buy them as a treat cause they are usually a little pricey. Yum! I may have to go get one now. mmmm. Been reading your blog. New York looks like a fun place. Heard much about the goings on here in Jordan District? Geeze.
