what's a mom to do?

On Saturday morning, there was a Primary activity at the church. Sarah, of course, woke up at 6:30 excited and ready to go. As you can imagine, I was thrilled to be up so early. It was finally time to go, and I got everyone and everything all packed up--meaning two kids and myself suited up for cold weather, two bags, and one stroller. We headed out the door into the rain. I was even more thrilled. We trudged to the subway stop to find that the subway wasn't running. You can imagine my level of enthusiasm at this point. If Sarah hadn't been so excited for her first primary party, I would have called it a day. No subway means there is a free shuttle (bus) to replace it. Free is good. Shuttle is not necessarily good. Shuttle means must walk several more blocks in the rain to the shuttle stop. Shuttle means must carry two bags, one stroller, and one child while herding second larger child onto the shuttle, keep track of all items and children while on the shuttle, and disembark while again acting as a packhorse for two bags, two children, and a stroller all without cursing. What's a mom to do? Well, I hailed a car and paid the $6. Who wouldn't? Later David commented that it's not that big of a deal to fold the stroller up and take it on the shuttle. I told him that I am not an octopus with 8 arms! I hoofed it to and from doctor's appointments while 9-months pregnant and with a broken arm. I walked to and from doctor's appointments with a newborn in a stroller that I often had to carry. I carried an exersaucer home on the subway along with a baby in a front pack and herding a 3-year-old. Why was this my breaking point? I don't know, but even I have my limits. OR maybe I'm going soft!

I guess I must have told Sarah we were going to get a car, because when we got to the church, Sarah said to me, "I thought you were going to drive." That would explain why she kept pointing to cars as we walked for a bit before getting a car and saying, "How about that one?" and "What about that one?"

My question is...has Dave ever gone out on the town in the rain with 2 children all by himself and all the junk that goes with them????

Just wondering.
