sarah, 4-year-old extraordinaire

Dear Sarah,
Today is your fourth birthday. I can't believe it has been that long since you came into my life. Some days you seem so much older and more mature than your four years, and sometimes I wonder if you are even a day over three. I am so proud of the girl that you are becoming. I am grateful for your enthusiasm and excitement for life and all things in it. All day long you are excited to tell me about things or show me things even if you have already showed them to me a dozen or more times. You are very knowledgeable and bright. You remember things that you have only been introduced to if only just once and are constantly amazing me with your knowledge of the world and the things around you. You like to learn and are interested in many things. You like mythology. You like to learn about science. You are learning to read and are figuring out both sight words and how to sound things out. You ask questions constantly, and sometimes I don't have the answers. It is fun to watch you interact with the world as you learn and grow. You like attention and truly blossom when you are given attention by adults. When in the company of adults, you can be quite the little charmer. At times it seems that your energy knows no bounds, and you bounce out of bed in the morning, race through the day, and hop into bed at night (often against your will) proclaiming that you aren't yet tired. Sometimes I must admit that you wear me out. You are determined and tenacious. You love blackberries, raspberries, lemonade, cool whip, corn on the cob, and pancakes. You love being a princess and watching shows. You also love pushing elevator buttons. You are a good sister to Zach and love to make him laugh. No one can do it better than you. You are a very polite young lady, and I am often so pleased with your manners toward others when we are out in public. I can hardly wait to see what changes will come your way during this next year of your life.
