A small miracle has occurred here in NYC. Many of you may be aware that Sarah has been overly attached to a blanket that I made for her when she was born. That blanket has been a frequent companion and has provided comfort for her for over three and a half years. With her blanket and her thumb, she could survive anything. I was beginning to be worried that I would send her away to college and off on her honeymoon with her blanket and her thumb. The poor kid comes by this honestly, as some of her aunts and uncles as well as I were attached to blankets in our youth as well. (Mine had to be patched several times until one day I believe it was sewn inside another blanket. In hindsight, I think that may have just been the story they gave me as it seems a bit suspicious.) Well, the blanket has been put to rest. She was dragging her feet to get ready for bed one night, and I threatened that if she wasn't ready when the timer rang in five minutes there would be no blanket for her that night. Well, five minutes came and went, and she wasn't ready. The psychologist in me knew that I had to follow through, and I did. That was several weeks ago, and she hasn't asked for the blanket since. Apparently, the blanket and thumb were intricately linked (just as her father suspected and told me several times) as the thumb sucking only occurs now when she is asleep. Hallelujah!

I have several articles of clothing in similar repair, and they are active in my lineup. What's the big deal?
Let me guess...they are t-shirts! I thought Laura had rid you of all of those.
Gosh that thing has really seen some wear! I'd be afraid to throw it in the washer. Glad it wasn't too traumatic. I was really a chicken about getting rid of Ethan and Rachel's binkies too, since they were very attached to them, but they didn't make to big of a deal out of those either. Kids surprise you sometimes.
