sunday in the park

On our way home from church yesterday, we went to the Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park. This is a yearly event and apparently a very big deal. There were hundreds of people there, many of whom were in costume-very elaborate costumes. At times I found it difficult to determine which people were with the festival and which people just dressed up and came to the festival. There were little plays, a children's parade, booths selling things, dancers, singers, a bagpipe band, food, costumed characters wandering around, and best of all, a jousting contest. The jousting was probably the biggest and best attraction, but I personally enjoyed the people wandering around gnawing on big old chicken drumsticks as if they actually were living in medieval times.

I love it. Did you plan on going or did you just notice it on your way home and decide to stop? Either way, it's hilarious.

I went to one of these things once in Phoenix -- interesting experience (and somewhat weird)
