halloween, new york style

This is a shot of Sarah trick-or-treating at the stores on 181st Street where we live. There were loads of kids out, and we got a kick out of figuring out which stores were giving out candy to the kids.
We went to a Halloween Parade from the public school near our building to the park nearby. I would estimate there were maybe four hundred people or more who participated. There were so many people that they closed off the street as we paraded by. It was interesting to think as we gathered with this huge crowd that this is only a small fraction of the thousands and thousands of people in our neighborhood.
Once we got to the park, the kids trick-or-treated around the park while the parents gave out candy. After Sarah's bucket was full, we let her give out the candy we had brought. I think she may have enjoyed this even more than trick-or-treating herself. At times she was chasing other kids down to give them candy.
This is the loot Sarah collected. I would certainly say that Halloween, New York Style, was a big success!

Thanks for your comments...Halloween was great at the school for me, but not everyone seemed into it like in the past. There was no big theme from the office staff and such. Kathy wasn't even there. Ann and Camille dressed up as nerds though. They were cute. Hope your Halloween was great. Sarah looked cute!
