letter of the week

Here are some of the C activities we will be doing this week:
  • making chocolate chip cookies (and using measuring cups) and maybe sugar cookies with cookie cutters
  • doing color hunts around our apartment and working on color pages for our color book
  • color experiments (with food coloring) to see what colors you get when you mix them
  • reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and making either egg carton caterpillars or paper chain caterpillars
  • Christmas countdown chain
  • making pictures by tracing cookie cutters
  • making pictures with precut circles of all sizes-the circles can be used whole or cut into pieces like a pie; cutting with scissors
  • decorating and wearing a crown
  • calling cousins
  • making a cootie catcher
  • talking about constellations-we have a great book for this
  • clouds-talking about them, looking for them in the sky, making some with cotton balls
  • snacks-crackers & cheese, chips & cheese, carrots, celery, chunks of cheddar cheese
  • making a snowflake with cotton balls and cotton swabs
  • counting with cotton balls; possibly addition as well
  • making confetti
  • cookie cutter candy ornaments
  • making Christmas cards for Sarah to send
  • making carrot cake-and possibly baking in cupcake format
  • making chocolate covered things-like strawberries and pretzels and marshamallows
  • eating Chinese food
  • making a calendar for Sarah to use for next year
  • building a cardboard castle
  • buying and playing with Colorforms
  • decorating a can for putting things in
Other ideas we won't be doing:
  • cereal necklaces or cereal pictures
  • coloring eggs
  • making caramel popcorn
  • chocolate or cheese fondue
  • talking about/making a clock
  • making clown cupcakes
  • going to the circus
  • craft projects
  • wearing costumes
  • playing with cars
  • eating cotton candy
So many possibilities-I love the letter C!
