a little piece of new york

Sarah and I went with some friends today to the New York Botanical Garden to see the Holiday Train Show. It was incredible as you can see in some of the pictures in the slide show. They have made over 140 architectural reproductions of famous buildings or structures throughout New York using only plant materials. Some of our favorites were, of course, the George Washington Bridge, the Little Red Lighthouse, St. Patrick's Cathedral, and the Brooklyn Bridge. We also liked the trains. Sarah's personal favorite was the little ladybug train. It is housed in this beautiful atrium building that is breathtaking and filled with exotic plants. It was like a little piece of New York City inside a little piece of the tropics all steamy and warm while the outside temperature of the Bronx was about 35 degrees. A big thanks to the Wilcoxes for the ride and the tickets!

Very fun -- is this a holiday thing, or can you see this display all year long?
