holiday highlights

David had a work party at the hospital. Sarah wasn't very happy to be there at first. After she warmed up, she had a great time. It helped that her little friend Audrey was there.
She got to sit on Santa's lap (also known as Jim C., one of David's colleagues) and got a present from him that I had picked out for her. It's a set of action figure characters from the movie Cinderella. She is thrilled to finally have a Cinderella and Prince Charming to play with. They entertained her for most of the afternoon.
Later in the evening we went to see the Holiday Lights at the Bronx Zoo. At first I wasn't so sure about the whole thing as it took a while to look like much of anything from the gate at which we entered. It got much better. This is Sarah at the reindeer pen. If you look very carefully, you can see some reindeer antlers in the middle at the left side of the picture.
Sarah got to ride the Bug Carousel. She loves carousels of any type and was thrilled to ride this one. She chose to ride on the praying mantis.
The zoo was filled with animals all lit up such as these giraffes. There were elephants, tigers, flamingos, hippos, etc. We also saw some live animals as well as it is, after all, a zoo. We also paid (yes, paid) to make a S'more. We are New Yorkers, you know. It was the only thing we had to pay for during the entire visit as we are members and get to visit as much as we want (the Bronx Zoo as well as the other zoos in the boroughs and the NY Aquarium) during the course of the year for the cost of our membership. This is one of the many things I like about New York--you can get memberships for relatively small amounts to many museums and neat places with unlimited visits. By the end of the day, Sarah was wiped out. Zach, of course, slept through all of it.

That looks so fun! I wish they had something cool like that here. When are you going to UT? Maybe you're there already... Have fun!
