a ban on candy

I was hoping that the cravings for sweet things would end as soon as I had the baby, but it turns out that the cravings for all things sweet is just me. Lucky, eh? This means, then, that I must take some serious action if I ever want to reach my pre-pre-pregnancy weight. As exercise other than just walking about the city is currently not an option, I guess I will have to focus primarily on diet. It seems that a good place to start where I will probably see the biggest difference is on cutting out all candy and other sweet things. My self-control in this area is limited at best, but I think I will be willing to give it a go. Is anyone else out there interested in banning candy in their lives? Given this ambition, I now have two important steps to take before I begin:

1. Find something suitable to reward myself with when I am successful with my efforts. This will include both short term reinforcements (a day without sugar, a week without sugar, a month without sugar, etc) and long-term reinforcements (reaching pre-pre-pregnancy weight). I realize that this is simply exchanging one vice for another, but I say, whatever works...

2. Eat all of the candy in the house...

Mark has declared a ban on candy in our house till Halloween due to Ryan taking a coupon to Walmart on Monday night and buying 2 huge bags of skittles (you have to buy 2 to get $1 off, you know) and me making cookies because I was taking dinner to someone in the ward. So, I guess I'm joining you, but does stealing chocolate chips from the bag count?

According to Laura, chocolate chips are not candy. And I love all stories about Ryan's financial wit.

Oooooh, I don't think I'm quite strong enough to do that. I can't even bring myself to totally avoid chocolate, even though it gives Katie a tummyache. I've had to try to satiete those cravings with butterscotch chips (which apparently would fall into the "not candy" category).
