one month today
Today is our one month anniversary of the big move to New York City. I meant to get the blog up and running right away, but we have been busy and are doing a significant amount of lazing around. It's hard to believe that it has already been so long since our arrival. As Eric so kindly put it recently, "They wanted an adventure." So far, an adventure is what we are having.
There have been good adventures:
- a visit to the Museum of Natural History
- papaya dogs
- playing in the water features at the various parks
- a trip to the beach in New Jersey
- a visit to FAO Schwartz-the best toy store I've ever been to-without even having to purchase a toy for Sarah
- a nice walk across part of the George Washington Bridge just blocks from our apartment
There have also been not so good adventures: - a tumble and broken arm for me in the park by our building
- a long visit to the hospital for monitoring and x-rays
- several subsequent visits to the doctor and occupational therapist
Okay, so the arm incident has really been the only problematic thing, but it has really slowed us down. It turns out the right arm is really quite useful when functioning-especially if you happen to be right-handed. Fortunately, you can get anything delivered here in the city which has been a lifesaver. For now the fracture is holding stable which means no surgery. I will have more x-rays done in a week and a half to check the progress of the healing and make sure it is still stable. With a little bit of luck, I will be able to avoid surgery altogether and just do occupational therapy. Our next big adventure will be having a three-year-old, a broken arm, and a new baby! Stay tuned...
